However the stars aligned, the week just passed saw many older bottles being downed.  A surplus of delicious Bordeaux was on tap seemingly everywhere.  Most surprisingly, a handful of 1970's showed very well, especially Figeac, Lynch-Bages and Grand-Puy-Lacoste.  Storage matters - merci whomever performed the hard labor.  The Pichon Lalande '78 must be the wine of that vintage.  Finally don't turn your back on the oft-ignored '99's - major "yum" earned by d'Armaillac, Leoville Poyferre & Brane Cantenac. The tastiest treat of all however was the Gaja '95 Sori Tildon - so elegant, so poised, so memorable.  Maybe Bordeaux doesn't have the lock on longevity....
